Why We Exist

Funding Tribe seeks to be the premier fundraising service that levels the playing field for minority leaders who are striving to change the world and have typically been underrepresented and under-resourced.

Minorities Are Facing Funding Challenges

As mentioned in the article Exploring Challenges and Opportunities for Minority Business Owners in 2019, many minority entrepreneurs face discrimination, scarce financing opportunities, and a lack of social networks, making the climb to financial sustainability a steep one. Even though the number of minority-owned firms doubled over the last decade (according to Census Bureau data), and they are driving a significant part of the entrepreneurship growth, minority business owners still face a multitude of challenges when trying to start, sustain, and finance their organizations.

Racial Wealth Gap

People of color have faced economic inequality for generations. Compared to white families, other races have lower levels of income and net worth. They are also less likely to hold assets of any type. 19% of black families have zero or negative net worth, while only 9% of white households have no wealth.
