The book of Lamentations is not one we often dive into. It’s a poem of pain and sorrow, with chapter after chapter delving deeper into distress. Yet, in the midst of these lamentations, there’s a bright spot that offers hope—Lamentations 3:22-23. This passage serves as a reminder of God’s unchanging faithfulness, even in our darkest moments.
Jeremiah, the author of this book, finds himself in immense sorrow. But even in the depths of his grief, he’s able to proclaim God’s great love and mercy. This proclamation feels almost out of place in a book filled with so much sadness, but it teaches us a profound truth: God's faithfulness is the light that shines through our most challenging times.

Jeremiah is surrounded by devastation, yet he finds hope in God’s love. The same love that sustains us today, especially as we work to advance the gospel and raise support. We may face rejection, exhaustion, and worry, but God's love is the constant force that keeps us going. He sees our struggles and understands our needs, reminding us that His love carries us through.

Each day brings new mercies from God. Jeremiah reminds us that no matter how heavy the burdens we face, God’s compassion renews every morning. As fundraisers and ministry workers, we often encounter obstacles. Yet, each morning is an opportunity to see God's grace and provision anew. This newness is a fresh start, a reminder that God’s care is unfailing. Even when our work feels overwhelming, God offers us renewed strength and hope with every dawn.
"Great is your faithfulness."
What does it mean to say that God is faithful? Faithfulness is being trustworthy, reliable, and steadfast. Merriam-Webster defines it as “firm in adherence to promises.” God’s faithfulness to His promises is an unshakable truth for us. He has been faithful in the past, He is faithful now, and He will be faithful in the future. When we reach out to donors, organize events, or face obstacles, we can have full confidence in the reliability of God’s provision. His faithfulness is the bedrock of our trust in Him.
Reflecting on God’s Faithfulness
As we continue in our work, let us remember that God’s faithfulness underpins everything we do. Even when we face disappointments—unanswered calls, challenging situations, or setbacks—we know that God’s resources are limitless and that His promises are true. We are called to reflect His faithfulness in our own actions: to be steadfast, committed, and transparent in how we pursue our goals. Our trust in God’s faithfulness should also shine through in the way we seek support and partner with others.
